Handmade in the traditions of the Venetian glass masters

Cartwright New York is a boutique, luxury lighting and accessories company based in New York City.

They make custom blown glass lamps and chandeliers for high-end residential and commercial interiors.

To create modern handcrafted lighting which is at once new and still true to its history is the challenge of our work.
Under the direction of Carolyn Cartwright, the studio creates original designs with a distinctly modernist aesthetic, inspired by 20th Century Italian design.

Each piece is made to order, by hand, in their Brooklyn workshops using traditional Venetian glassmaking techniques such as: Canna, inclusion of colored glass rods, Sommerso, the submersion of a colored bubble into a thick glass envelope, Latimo, the casing of white glass in a transparent layer of color and Gilding, the addition of a layer of pure gold to the surface of the glass.

Bespoke options are, of course, available.

The marriage of technically challenging handcraft with clean, contemporary form, insures that Cartwright NY lamps and chandeliers will be equally at home in luxurious contemporary interiors, and classic timeless ones. Designers look to Cartwright New York for elegant statement pieces achieved through the luminous, fluid magic of hand blown glass.
